Expeditors Canada has moved 70 employees to a new office in downtown Windsor, marking a significant step in the city's efforts to revitalize its core. The logistics and customs brokerage firm celebrated the grand opening of its new location at the corner of Ouellette Avenue and Chatham Street West on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Strategic Move for Growth
Cara Weese, customs brokerage manager for Expeditors Canada, highlighted the importance of the relocation. 'We needed new office space, more space, and it was really important to us to be part of this downtown core, and building up the City of Windsor with what we do,' she said. The office handles all brokerage clearances for cross-border trade, including any goods crossing bridges, tunnels, or land borders.
The new office is located on the third floor of a building that also houses RBC Bank. This move follows the company's growth from just four employees 24 years ago to its current size, outgrowing previous locations on Industrial Drive and further south on Ouellette Avenue at Eugenie Street.
Supporting the Strengthen the Core Plan
The relocation aligns with Windsor's council-approved Strengthen the Core plan, which aims to draw more people to live, work, and spend leisure time downtown. Ward 3 Coun. Renaldo Agostino, who represents downtown on city council, praised the move. 'I focus all the time on the small wins — today's a big win,' he said. 'There's life downtown. This is where you want to be.'
Agostino outlined three pillars for downtown revitalization: residential, nightlife, and daylight. Attracting businesses like Expeditors brings daytime foot traffic, with people 'walking around, dressed really nicely, spending money during lunchtime, and being part of the downtown landscape.'
Previous Success Stories
This move follows a similar relocation by Dillon Consulting in November 2024, which brought around 70 workers to the 12th floor of 1 Riverside Dr. W. Dillon partner Karl Tanner cited the Strengthen the Core plan as a key factor in their decision. 'We really have to be downtown. We have to lead by example,' Tanner said.
Expeditors Canada's new office is expected to contribute to the downtown's daytime economy and support the broader goal of revitalizing the city's core.
