Ballantine's and COLORSxSTUDIOS Partner for Authentic Music

In a world where music has become increasingly polished and produced, a new global research study from Ballantine's Scotch Whisky reveals that fans are craving authenticity above all else. According to the survey of 9,000 music fans across nine countries, a staggering 88 percent say authenticity is the single most important factor in connecting with an artist today. This marks a cultural shift away from perfection and toward realness.

Fans Demand Realness Over Perfection

The research uncovers a clear tension between how music is currently performed and how fans actually want to experience it. Key findings include:

  • 84 percent of fans say unexpected, unscripted moments make live music unforgettable.
  • 1 in 3 fans report that when artists deliver an authentic performance, it inspires them to be themselves.
  • 60 percent believe that performance is the most powerful way to connect with an artist.

However, barriers remain. 4 in 10 fans feel overly scripted shows hinder connection, and 1 in 3 cannot afford to attend live events at all. Perfection, it seems, is creating distance rather than connection.

This event sets the stage for future True Music events in cities worldwide throughout 2026 and beyond.
