Theft probe leads to arrest, drug seizure near Gravelbourg

A theft investigation in the Gravelbourg area has led to an arrest and the seizure of drugs and weapons, according to Saskatchewan RCMP.

Police respond to theft complaint

On June 22, 2026, officers from the Gravelbourg detachment responded to a report of a theft in progress at a rural property approximately 10 kilometres south of the town. Upon arrival, police located a suspect who was allegedly attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl, along with stolen property believed to be from recent thefts in the area. Police also seized cash and a weapon.

Charges laid

As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Tyler Johnson of Gravelbourg has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl), possession of stolen property, and breach of a release order. He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on June 23 and was remanded into custody.

“This arrest highlights the importance of community policing and the public’s assistance in reporting suspicious activity,” said Cpl. Michael Blackmore of the Gravelbourg RCMP. “We continue to work diligently to remove dangerous drugs from our streets.”

RCMP estimate the street value of the seized drugs at approximately $50,000. The investigation remains ongoing, and police anticipate further charges may be laid.
