St. Stephen, N.B. man sentenced to nearly 10 years for drug offences

RCMP have announced that a 38-year-old man from St. Stephen, New Brunswick, has been sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison for drug trafficking offences. The sentence was handed down on July 10, 2026, in a Saint John court.

Investigation details

The investigation, conducted by the RCMP's Federal Serious and Organized Crime unit, began in early 2025. Police executed search warrants at multiple locations in St. Stephen and the surrounding area, resulting in the seizure of approximately 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 500 grams of methamphetamine, and $50,000 in cash. The drugs had an estimated street value of over $150,000.

The accused, whose name has not been released due to a publication ban, pleaded guilty to charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. He was also ordered to forfeit the seized cash and other assets.

RCMP Corporal Julie Rogers stated, 'This sentence sends a clear message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated in our communities. The seizure of these drugs has disrupted the illegal drug trade in southwestern New Brunswick.'

St. Stephen, a town of about 4,000 residents near the U.S. border, has seen increased police attention to drug-related crimes in recent years.
