Edmonton police and RCMP are searching for a driver who went missing after a commercial vehicle crashed into the North Saskatchewan River on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred near the Low Level Bridge around 2 p.m., according to authorities.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a truck plunging into the river. Witnesses saw the vehicle enter the water and sink quickly. The driver has not been located, and a search operation is underway involving marine units and divers.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said the vehicle was a commercial truck, but the company and driver identity have not been released. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and no other injuries have been reported.
