Artel Video Unveils Game-Changing FiberLink ST2110-TD Gateway for Broadcasters

Artel Video, a brand of Patton, has announced the launch of the FiberLink ST2110-TD, a rugged and compact "throw-down" gateway designed to transform broadcast workflows. This innovative device facilitates real-time conversion between 3G/HD-SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 IP signaling, providing broadcasters with instant and flexible connectivity options without the need to dismantle existing SDI infrastructure.

Breaking Down the SDI-to-IP Barrier

The FiberLink ST2110-TD addresses a critical challenge in the broadcasting industry: the transition from legacy SDI systems to modern all-IP networks. Tim Godby, Director of Media Transport Systems at Patton, emphasized the device's strategic importance, stating, "Broadcasters shouldn't have to choose between preserving SDI investment or embracing IP communication." This gateway supports one or two channels with bidirectional operation, enabling seamless interconnection between old and new technologies.

Portability and Versatility in Deployment

True to its "throw-down" moniker, the ST2110-TD is engineered for portability and ease of use. Engineers can deploy it in various environments, including studio floors, remote venues, or production trucks, without requiring traditional rack setups. Mounting options are diverse, featuring DIN-rail, NEMA enclosures, and 1U rack-trays for permanent installations, ensuring adaptability to different broadcast scenarios.

Compliance and Advanced Features

The gateway adheres strictly to SMPTE ST 2110 standards, covering video (ST 2110-20), audio (ST 2110-30), ancillary data (ST 2110-40), and PTP synchronization (ST 2110-10) for precise stream alignment. Built-in smart features enhance its functionality, such as autosensing SDI ports that detect formats automatically, traffic shaping per ST 2110-21 for reliable video delivery, seamless redundancy via ST 2022-7 protection switching, NMOS support for discovery and routing, and software upgradability to accommodate future standards.

Real-World Applications and Availability

Godby highlighted the device's practicality, noting, "The Fiberlink ST2110-TD is compact and rugged. Throw it down wherever you need it. It just works." Four SKUs are available for pre-order, including 1-channel and 2-channel versions for both encapsulation (SDI-to-ST2110) and de-encapsulation (ST2110-to-SDI) processes, with AC power adapters included. Delivery is expected in May 2026.

In related developments, Artel has also introduced its new ST2110 Media Gateway with JPEG-XS Compression, further expanding its portfolio of advanced broadcast solutions. This launch underscores Artel's commitment to providing scalable, flexible, and affordable pathways for broadcasters to modernize their operations while leveraging existing investments.
