Third Suspect Charged in Alleged Sexual Assault Ring
Toronto police have charged a third suspect in connection with an alleged sexual assault ring, following an investigation by CTV News' W5 program. The probe uncovered a global network of men who drug, rape, and record their partners without consent.
The latest suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses including sexual assault, administering a noxious substance, and voyeurism. The charges stem from incidents that occurred in the Toronto area.
W5's investigation, titled "Avery Haines Investigates," exposed the brazen criminal network, leading to the arrests. The first two suspects were charged earlier this year. Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging them to come forward.
"This is a disturbing case that highlights the dangers of online predators who exploit trust for heinous acts," said Detective Sergeant John Smith of the Toronto Police Service's Sexual Assault Unit. "We commend the victims for their bravery and the media for their investigative work."
The accused is scheduled to appear in court next week. The investigation remains ongoing.
