Three Ottawa Charge Forwards in PWHL Top Paid

The Professional Women's Hockey League Players Association has released player salaries for the 2025-26 season, marking the first time such data is public. Three Ottawa Charge forwards rank among the league's highest earners.

Top Earners in the League

Emily Clark of the Ottawa Charge is the highest-paid player in the PWHL, earning $126,090. She is followed by New York Sirens forward Sarah Fillier at $125,000. The Charge is the only team with three players earning over $100,000: Brianne Jenner ($122,003) and Gabbie Hughes ($106,000) join Clark. Montreal Victoire also has two six-figure players: Abby Roque ($116,699) and Marie-Philip Poulin ($110,216).

Salary Disparities Within Teams

While top players earn substantial sums, the average player salary is $58,349.50, with a minimum of $37,131.50. On the Charge roster, eight players made $40,000 or less. Rookies like Sarah Wozniewicz and Fanuza Kadirova earned $40,000 or less, while top draft picks Rory Guilday ($50,000) and Anna Shokhina ($43,500) fared slightly better.

Historical Context and Transparency

Previously, only the minimum and average salaries were public. The decision to disclose all salaries aims to promote transparency. In March, The Hockey News published unauthorized salary data, which players union president Laura Stacey called a shock. Now, the official release sets a precedent for women's professional sports leagues.

All figures are in U.S. dollars and exclude bonuses or incentives. The minimum salary will increase by 3% to $38,245.45 next season.
