The Toronto Raptors have signed head coach Darko Rajakovic to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday. The deal comes after Rajakovic led the Raptors to a playoff appearance in his second season at the helm.
Rajakovic's Tenure with the Raptors
Rajakovic, 46, was hired by the Raptors in June 2023, becoming the 10th head coach in franchise history. He inherited a team in transition after the departure of star guard Fred VanVleet and the eventual trade of OG Anunoby. In his first season, the Raptors finished 25-57, missing the playoffs. However, the team showed significant improvement in 2025-26, posting a 44-38 record and securing the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference before falling to the Boston Celtics in the first round.
According to sources, the extension is for three additional years, keeping Rajakovic under contract through the 2029-30 season. Financial terms were not disclosed, but it is believed to be in line with market value for a mid-tier NBA head coach.
