Gary Roberts, Brian Burke shake up Bulldogs front office

Gary Roberts and Brian Burke are among the key figures behind a significant shake-up in the Brantford Bulldogs' front office, the Ontario Hockey League team announced Thursday. The moves aim to restructure management and bring fresh leadership to the franchise.

New leadership team

The Bulldogs appointed Roberts as a special advisor to hockey operations, while Burke will serve as a senior consultant. Both bring extensive NHL and hockey executive experience to the OHL club. The changes also include several other front-office promotions and hires, though the team did not disclose all details immediately.

"We are thrilled to welcome Gary and Brian to our organization," said Bulldogs owner Michael Andlauer in a statement. "Their expertise and passion for the game will help us build a winning culture both on and off the ice."

Roberts and Burke's roles

Roberts, a former NHL forward known for his physical play, has worked in player development and coaching since retiring. Burke, a former NHL general manager and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, brings decades of executive experience. Their specific duties will include advising on player personnel, scouting, and organizational strategy.

"I'm excited to work with Brian and the entire Bulldogs staff to help this team succeed," Roberts said. "There's a lot of talent here, and I look forward to contributing."

Impact on the franchise

The Bulldogs finished the 2025-26 season with a 28-32-8 record, missing the playoffs. The front-office overhaul signals a commitment to improvement. Andlauer emphasized that the changes are part of a long-term plan to strengthen the organization's foundation.

"We are building something special in Brantford," Andlauer added. "These additions will help us achieve our goals."
