FIFA World Cup 2026: Banned Items at Toronto Stadium

FIFA has issued an extensive list of rules for fans attending Team Canada's game against Bosnia-Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium. The match, which is the biggest in Canadian soccer history, will see Canada play on home soil for the first time ever in a World Cup.

Bag Policy

Backpacks and purses are essentially banned. Clear plastic bags may not exceed 30cm x 15cm x 30cm, while purses, wallets, and clutches must be no larger than 11.5cm x 16.5cm. Fanny packs are recommended as an alternative.

Prohibited Items

Musical instruments must be small, with dimensions no larger than 12cm x 12cm x 12cm. Vuvuzelas are specifically banned. Laser pointers and flares are also prohibited. Flags and banners must not exceed 2m x 1.5m and cannot contain political or offensive messages. Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited.

Water Bottles

After initial confusion, FIFA now allows fans to bring one factory-sealed water bottle, which can be refilled at stations inside the stadium. Hard-sided reusable bottles remain banned.

Heat Safety

With temperatures expected in the high 20s and high humidity, FIFA encourages fans to drink water, wear light clothing, and apply sunscreen. Cooling zones and shaded areas are available throughout the venue.
