Three first-time competitors at the Calgary Stampede claimed bronzes in roughstock events on Monday, July 6, 2026, at GMC Stadium. Bareback rider Roedy Farrell, saddle bronc rider Coleman Shallbetter, and bull rider Noah Lee each won their respective disciplines on Day 4 of Pool B action.

Bareback Victory for Farrell

Roedy Farrell, 21, from Thermopolis, Wyoming, scored 87.5 points riding Side Show to win the bareback event. "It was like a dream — it was awesome," Farrell said. "Them are the kind of ones you dream about to draw at your first Calgary Stampede." Farrell entered the competition ranked 22nd in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) bareback standings with $50,969.62 in earnings.

Shallbetter Shines in Saddle Bronc

Coleman Shallbetter, also 21, from Colorado, earned an 87.5-point ride on Business Girl to claim the saddle bronc title. "Definitely a lot louder than you think," Shallbetter said of the crowd. "It kind of makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck, with all the people in the stands in the big arena." Shallbetter sits 29th in the PRCA saddle bronc standings with $44,279.97.

Lee Dominates Bull Riding

Noah Lee, 18, from Texas, posted a 90.5-point ride on Shaboozie to win bull riding. "It's awesome," Lee said. "I've always wanted to be here and always wanted to come to Canada. It's pretty cool. I like the bulls up here, and I like the people." Lee is second in the world bull-riding rankings with $172,320.67, trailing only Tristen Hutchings ($186,220.94). Sportsnet broadcasters called him the "hottest bull rider on the planet."

Rookies Embrace Stampede Atmosphere

The newcomers were unanimous in their praise for the Calgary Stampede experience. "It's a pretty sweet, pretty awesome place to be," Farrell said. "I've watched the Calgary Stampede, and I wasn't expecting to do that. I'm glad just the cards fell right and God blessed me to be able to do it." Lee added, "I get real high-spirited when I start riding, and it stays that way. I get real happy, and I start riding everything."
