Canada's Team Lott wins bronze at 2026 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship
Canada's Lott earns bronze at World Mixed Doubles

Canada's Kadriana and Colton Lott capped a memorable week at the 2026 ACE & Company World Mixed Doubles Championship by securing the bronze medal on Saturday morning. The married duo from Manitoba rebounded from a heartbreaking semifinal loss less than 24 hours earlier to deliver a commanding 11-3 victory over Italy's Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner.

Dominant performance from the start

Team Canada capitalized on every scoring opportunity, recording two four-enders and one three-ender. The decisive moment arrived in the sixth end when Canada used its power play to draw for four points, effectively sealing the win. Canada's shooting accuracy of 89 per cent far surpassed Italy's 65 per cent, highlighting the team's precision under pressure.

A costly error by Italy in the first end gave Canada an early advantage. Italy came up light on a draw, and Canada capitalized by tapping around a guard to score four points. Colton Lott noted the momentum shift: "It gives us all the momentum going forward, right from the get-go. Especially after that first end, we could really tell that they weren't quite on their game, and as long as we kept applying pressure, tried to make them make really precise shots, we were going to get mistakes, and for the most part, we capitalized on that and just kept bending all the way through."

First world medal for Kadriana

The bronze medal marked Kadriana Lott's first-ever world curling medal, while Colton added his second international medal of the 2025-26 season. He previously won silver playing third for Team Matt Dunstone at the World Men's Curling Championship. "There's no words that can describe this feeling right now," Colton said. "Other than just gratitude, just super, super proud of Kadriana. She carried herself so well this week and played so well. I'm happy for us, but I'm super happy for her to get her first-ever world medal."

This victory represents Canada's first medal at the world mixed doubles championship since 2019. Kadriana reflected on the achievement: "To share this together, to go on world stages to different parts of the world, it's something we want to continue, and we'll cherish these moments forever throughout our lives. Just super proud of us, and I'm happy to have that medal around our necks and happy to be standing at the podium at the end of this week."

Australia wins historic gold

The gold-medal game saw Australia claim its first-ever world title in mixed doubles, as Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt defeated Sweden's Therese Westman and Robin Ahlberg 8-4 on Saturday afternoon. The win marks a historic milestone for Australian curling on the international stage.
