Ottawa Man, 41, Dies in Boating Accident on St. Lawrence

A 41-year-old man from Ottawa has died following a boating mishap on Saturday night in the St. Lawrence River, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Incident Details

The Leeds County detachment of the OPP reported that the incident occurred around 10 p.m. when a 15-foot aluminum boat capsized north of Grenadier Island in the Thousand Islands chain. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene.

Rescue and Fatality

One individual was initially unaccounted for after the capsizing. The Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service located the missing man and transported him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
