North Vancouver and Langford to Host Free World Cup Watch Parties This Summer
Soccer enthusiasts across British Columbia have new reasons to celebrate as two additional family-friendly watch parties have been confirmed for the upcoming World Cup tournament. The Shipyards in North Vancouver and Langford Station will transform into vibrant community hubs where fans can experience the global soccer spectacle without the hefty price tag of international travel.
Canada House North Vancouver: Waterfront Viewing Experience
The Canada House North Vancouver will establish itself as a premier destination for soccer fans throughout the tournament. This free waterfront event will feature a massive 30-foot outdoor screen broadcasting all the action, ensuring no crucial moment is missed. The venue will offer comprehensive amenities including diverse food and beverage options, social gathering spaces, retail pop-ups, and special athlete meet-and-greet opportunities.
"Soccer has the power to reflect who we are as a country — diverse, connected and united," emphasized Kevin Blue, Chief Executive Officer and General Secretary at Canada Soccer. "Uber Eats Canada Soccer House North Vancouver will be the place for communities to come together to celebrate, connect and proudly cheer on Canada's team on the world stage."
This location represents one of only two Canada Soccer Association-sponsored sites nationwide, with the other situated at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre.
Langford Station: Month-Long Soccer Celebration
Meanwhile, Langford will convert its Station Avenue arts and culture district into a dedicated World Cup zone from June 11 through July 19. This free community event promises an immersive soccer experience with games displayed on a giant outdoor screen, complemented by live musical performances, diverse food trucks, a designated beer garden, and a specially designed Kids' Zone.
The children's area will keep younger attendees engaged with soccer-themed games and interactive activities, while a portion of Station Avenue will become pedestrian-only throughout the event duration to enhance safety and accessibility.
"Hosting a free community event throughout the World Cup is an opportunity for people to connect and share in the excitement of a global event," stated Langford Mayor Scott Goodmanson. "We are proud to offer an inclusive space where folks can celebrate and enjoy world-class soccer. We are grateful to the province for the support, which helps make this event possible and reinforces the value of investing in experiences that bring people together, no matter what team they are cheering for."
Provincial Context and Additional Viewing Options
These new watch parties join existing World Cup viewing opportunities across British Columbia, including the province's largest fan festival at the Pacific National Exhibition grounds in Vancouver. That venue boasts capacity for approximately 25,000 spectators and will feature more than seventy live match broadcasts across its festival site, alongside live music, entertainment performances, and interactive immersive games.
The announcement comes as Canadian soccer continues to gain momentum internationally, with the national team preparing for upcoming matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Toronto and Turkey in British Columbia. These community watch parties represent accessible alternatives for fans seeking the electric atmosphere of World Cup viewing without international travel expenses.
Both the North Vancouver and Langford events emphasize family-friendly environments where communities can unite around their shared passion for soccer while enjoying summer festivities in their local regions.
