The Toronto Maple Leafs are taking their game back to the community ice, announcing their popular annual outdoor practice will be held at the Westway Outdoor Rink in Etobicoke later this month.
A Weekend of Free Fan-Focused Events
The team confirmed that the Sport Chek-presented practice on Monday, January 26, 2026, will be the finale of a weekend packed with free activities for fans. The festivities kick off on Saturday night with a community open skate scheduled from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In a statement, Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving emphasized the event's community spirit. "We look forward to this event every year as a chance to connect with our passionate fans, and doing so in their communities makes it even more meaningful," Treliving said. "This weekend is about giving the next generation the opportunity to experience the game outdoors — where many of us first fell in love with hockey."
WWE Stars and Alumni Take the Ice
This year's event adds a unique crossover appeal for wrestling enthusiasts. The Monday practice will feature special guest appearances by several WWE superstars, including Maxxine Dupri, Otis, Akira Tozawa, Ivy Nile, and The Creed Brothers. These guests will transition from the rink to the ring later that same evening for WWE’s Monday Night RAW at Scotiabank Arena.
The action continues on Sunday with a Toronto Sceptres skills competition at 11:30 a.m., followed by a highly anticipated Leafs alumni game at 12:30 p.m. Fans can also gather for a viewing party as the current Leafs squad hosts the Colorado Avalanche at 1:30 p.m., with complimentary skate rentals available.
Practice Details and Community Legacy
The main event, the Maple Leafs outdoor practice, begins at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 26. Following the team's session, the weekend will conclude with another free public skate, again offering complimentary skate rentals.
This community-focused tradition was held last year at Prince of Wales Park in South Etobicoke, where local schools and families turned out to watch the team practice and participate in side events. The move to Westway Outdoor Rink continues the team's commitment to bringing the game directly to the neighbourhoods of their supporters.
