Three Charged in Calgary Break-Ins with Human Teeth Theft

Calgary police have charged two men and one woman following an investigation into a series of commercial break-and-enters in the Vista Heights neighborhood, resulting in the theft of property valued at over $234,910, which included human teeth.

Details of the Break-Ins

Police believe that between January 5 and 26, four businesses in the northeast Calgary community of Vista Heights were broken into and had property stolen. The stolen items included rare coins, laptops, and human teeth from which valuable metals had been removed.

Search Warrants Executed

Officers executed search warrants from January 27 to 30 at two residences in the 600 and 1000 blocks of 17 Avenue S.W., as well as two vehicles. During the searches, they seized rare coins, laptops, human teeth, and tools and equipment used to melt down precious metals. The recovered property is valued at approximately $34,915.

Charges Laid

Investigators have arrested three individuals in connection with the break-and-enters:

  • Steven Edward Hart, 42, faces six counts of commercial break-and-enter, seven counts of trafficking stolen property, and 13 counts of breaching a judicial order. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, April 30.
  • Alstone Jason Van Wezel, 48, faces 12 counts of commercial break-and-enter and one count of drug possession. He will appear in court on Monday, April 27.
  • Erin Lindsay Emerson, 49, faces two counts of drug possession, one count of trafficking stolen property, one count of possession of stolen property, one count of possession of identity documents, and three counts of breaching a judicial order. She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, April 24.

Police continue to investigate the incidents and urge anyone with information to contact them.
