Max Domi's OT Winner Caps Leafs' Comeback, Seals 4-3 Victory Over Jets
Domi's OT Goal Lifts Maple Leafs to 4-3 Win Over Jets

Max Domi marked a significant personal milestone with a dramatic game-winning goal, lifting the Toronto Maple Leafs to a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.

A Milestone Moment in Winnipeg

Playing in his 200th game for the Maple Leafs, forward Max Domi became the hero at the 3:08 mark of overtime. The decisive play came on a two-on-one rush, with captain Auston Matthews providing a perfect pass that Domi converted past Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck at Canada Life Centre.

The win provided a positive conclusion to Toronto's four-game road trip, which began with an overtime victory in Colorado. The journey also included a tough 6-1 loss to the Utah Mammoth and a 6-5 overtime defeat in Vegas. Overall, the Leafs secured five out of a possible eight points on the trip.

Mounting a Third-Period Comeback

The victory did not come easily for Toronto, who found themselves trailing 3-1 in the third period. The comeback began when defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored at 5:58 of the final frame, finishing a precise cross-ice feed from Nick Robertson.

The Leafs completed the rally with under five minutes remaining in regulation. Forward Bobby McMann deflected an Ekman-Larsson shot past Hellebuyck at 15:33 to tie the game 3-3 and force overtime.

Toronto's penalty kill was crucial late in the third, successfully killing off a minor penalty to Matthew Knies. During the Winnipeg power play, a Jonathan Toews shot struck both the post and the crossbar, narrowly missing a potential game-winner for the Jets.

Game Details and Team Momentum

The Jets had built their lead earlier in the contest. Alex Iafallo opened the scoring on a deflection at 2:23 of the second period. After Auston Matthews briefly cut the lead to 2-1 with a snap shot off a Domi pass, the Jets' Nino Niederreiter restored a two-goal cushion at 2:28 of the third.

Matthews' goal was his ninth in the last nine games. His two-point performance brought him to within a single point of tying legendary Leafs defenceman Borje Salming for fourth place on the franchise's all-time scoring list. Salming recorded 768 points during his Toronto career.

The Maple Leafs were without two key players for the contest: leading scorer William Nylander (lower body) and defenceman Simon Benoit (upper body).

With the victory, Toronto's record improves to 9-1-3 in their last 13 games. The team now returns home to Scotiabank Arena to begin a five-game homestand, starting with a matchup against the Minnesota Wild on Monday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Winnipeg Jets.
