Royal Ottawa to Host 2027 CPKC Women's Open

The Royal Ottawa Golf Club in Gatineau has been selected to host the 2027 CPKC Women's Open, offering Brooke Henderson another opportunity to shine in her home region. Golf Canada and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) announced the decision on Monday, confirming the tournament will take place from August 18 to 22, 2027.

A Homecoming for Henderson

Henderson, a 28-year-old native of Smiths Falls, Ontario, will defend the title she won in 2025 at Mississauga Golf and Country Club. The 2026 edition will be held at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, setting the stage for her return to the National Capital region in 2027. This will be the second time Royal Ottawa hosts the event in its 53-year history, having previously done so in 2000.

Historic Success in the Region

The CPKC Women's Open has been held in the Ottawa-Gatineau area five times previously, most recently in 2022 at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. That event was one of the most successful in tournament history, drawing large crowds and significant attention. CPKC president and CEO Keith Creel praised the region's support, stating, 'The National Capital region historically has been a tremendous host to the CPKC Women's Open with wonderful fans coming out in big numbers for this incredible event and its critical mission supporting local heart charities.'

Brooke's Brigade Returns

Henderson's popularity among Canadian golf fans is a key factor in the tournament's success. Known for her 'Brooke's Brigade' of supporters, she is expected to draw massive galleries at Royal Ottawa. A 14-time winner on the LPGA Tour, Henderson has earned $14.9 million US since her debut in 2015. In 2022, fans flocked to see her at the Hunt Club, and anticipation is high for her appearance in 2027.

Championship Pedigree

Henderson clinched her 14th LPGA title in 2025 with a 4-under 67, beating Minjee Lee by one stroke. She also won the CPKC Women's Open in 2018 at Wascana Golf Club in Regina, becoming the first Canadian to win the event since Jocelyne Bourassa in 1973. The 2027 tournament at Royal Ottawa will be her fifth appearance in the event, and she will carry the weight of expectations as Canada's most accomplished professional golfer.

A Prestigious Venue

The Royal Ottawa Golf Club, a 6,600-yard layout, last hosted the Women's Open in 2000, when Meg Mallon won her first of three national titles by one shot over Rosie Jones. The course is renowned for its challenging design and will provide a fitting stage for Henderson's title defense.
