As the golf world descends on TPC Toronto for the RBC Canadian Open, two of the sport's biggest stars are making headlines off the course. Phil Mickelson faces serious allegations, while Tiger Woods' travel plans draw attention.
Mickelson Accused of Misconduct
A report from Golf Digest by senior writer Joel Beall details allegations that Phil Mickelson made inappropriate, non-consensual contact with a female employee at The Farms Golf Club, an exclusive club near San Diego. The employee reportedly reported the incident to club management, prompting an immediate investigation.
According to the report, club officials approached the 55-year-old six-time major winner on the golf course and allegedly asked him to leave the property. The Farms Golf Club released a statement to Golf Digest, saying, "The Farms Golf Club is committed to maintaining a golf club environment that is safe, respectful and reflects the highest standards of conduct. Following a staff member report of member misconduct, the Club provided immediate and ongoing support to the staff member, conducted a thorough independent investigation of the incident and took decisive action. This individual is no longer a member of The Farms Golf Club."
Mickelson has played only one of nine LIV Golf events in 2026, his most recent being LIV South Africa in March, where he finished tied for 48th in a 57-player field. In February, he announced he was stepping away from the game to tend to a family health matter.
Tiger Woods' Switzerland Trip
Meanwhile, social media reports indicate that Tiger Woods' private jet landed in Switzerland on Thursday. According to a post from TWLegion on X, flight tracking data suggests the golf legend's plane may be preparing to take him back to his home in Florida.
Woods has been at a Swiss rehab facility for nearly two months after being arrested following a rollover accident in Jupiter Island, Florida, near his home. He was charged with driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Police found prescription pain medication in his pocket.
Woods made one trip back to Florida since entering rehab in mid-May to attend the high school graduation of Kai Trump, the daughter of his girlfriend Vanessa Trump, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
The U.S. Open begins at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club next week.
