Blue Jays' Ninth-Inning Collapse Leads to Crushing 6-5 Loss to Orioles
Blue Jays Collapse in Ninth, Lose 6-5 to Orioles

The Toronto Blue Jays suffered a devastating 6-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, squandering a four-run lead in the ninth inning. The Orioles secured the win on a walk-off single by Pete Alonso, capping a dramatic comeback at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Yesavage Struggles with Command

Starting pitcher Trey Yesavage had a difficult outing, walking seven batters over five innings. Despite his struggles, the Blue Jays defense bailed him out with four double plays. Yesavage appeared visibly frustrated at times, talking to himself on the mound. His best inning was the fifth, where he retired the Orioles' top three hitters in order. Entering the game, Yesavage had allowed only 10 walks in 32 innings this season, making Saturday's performance an anomaly.

Bullpen Meltdown

The Blue Jays' bullpen, which had been solid earlier in the game, unraveled in the ninth inning. Closer Jeff Hoffman started the inning with a 5-1 lead but failed to record an out after striking out the first batter. He hit a batter, allowed an RBI triple, an RBI single, a double, and a walk before being pulled. Reliever Connor Seabold then walked in a run and gave up the walk-off single to Alonso. In total, the Blue Jays issued 11 walks in the game.
