Alphonso Davies, the elite left back from Bayern Munich, is on the list despite a hamstring injury. His inclusion comes amid reports of tension between his club and Canada Soccer over past injury management. Bayern Munich reportedly insists that Davies be treated and cleared by their own medical staff before participating fully.
Moise Bombito, a crucial defender who has not played since breaking his tibia in October, also earned a spot. This suggests the centre back may be fit enough to contribute during the tournament.
Alfie Jones, who underwent ankle surgery in January and has yet to play in 2026, was also named. He was close to returning for Middlesbrough's promotion playoff but did not make the lineup.

Following the announcement, Canada will play warmup matches: June 1 against Uzbekistan in Edmonton and June 5 against Ireland in Montreal. Canada's World Cup opener is June 12 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Notable Snubs
Despite the 32-player camp size, some players were omitted. Goalkeeper James Pantemis, defenders Sam Adekugbe and Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, and veteran winger Junior Hoilett (69 caps) did not receive calls.
