Senators offer 40% off Tkachuk jerseys in 'Chuk your Tkachuk' promo

The Ottawa Senators are offering fans a chance to trade in their Brady Tkachuk jerseys for a 40 percent discount on new merchandise at the team's souvenir shop at the Canadian Tire Centre. The promotion, dubbed “Chuk your Tkachuk,” runs from Friday to Monday, July 3-7, 2026, and applies only to officially licensed Fanatics stitched jerseys.

Details of the promotion

The Senators announced the offer on their social media channels on Thursday, July 2. Fans who bring in their Tkachuk jerseys made by Fanatics can receive a 40 percent discount on regularly priced merchandise at Ottawa Team Threads. The move comes after the club traded its former captain to the Florida Panthers on June 21 in exchange for three first-round draft picks and a second-round selection.

Steve Staios, the club's president of hockey operations and general manager, dealt the No. 9 pick received from the Panthers to the San Jose Sharks for skilled winger William Eklund less than 48 hours after Tkachuk was traded. The club also used the No. 25 pick from the Panthers to select Swedish forward Jonas Lagerberg Hoen.

Fan reactions and limitations

While the gesture was intended to provide relief to fans after Tkachuk's departure, social media reaction highlighted that few fans might benefit. Kevin Lee, a longtime season-ticket holder and jersey collector who raises funds for the Senators' Community Foundation, noted that Fanatics pre-stitched Premium jerseys are rare. “I can count on one hand the number I’ve seen in black/red, so for most fans, the only jersey that would qualify for this is the red alternate,” Lee wrote on X.

Many fans inquired whether the discount could apply to Adidas versions of the jersey, but the offer is limited to Fanatics-made jerseys. Tkachuk requested a trade and gave the club a list of four destinations, but Staios stated publicly that Florida was the only option. It's believed the Minnesota Wild made a better offer, but the Senators' hands were tied. “It was clearly pointed at one team at the end. I feel comfortable with the return given the circumstances,” Staios said.

Alternative options for used jerseys

For those not interested in the Senators' offer, the Ottawa Titans, a professional baseball team in the Frontier League, are hosting a “Forget Brady Day” on Monday, July 7. Fans attending the game can trade in their No. 7 Tkachuk jerseys for a Titans jersey with the No. 7 of A.J. Wright. Both options are preferable to the scene when Dany Heatley returned to Ottawa with the San Jose Sharks on Dec. 2, 2010, after requesting a trade, as some fans threw their jerseys on the ice.
