The New York Rangers traded forward Brett Berard to the Montreal Canadiens on Friday, while the New York Islanders re-signed defenseman Tony DeAngelo to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

He also appeared in 10 games with the Rangers, recording one goal and two assists.

"We thank Brett for his contributions to our organization and wish him the best in Montreal," said Rangers general manager Chris Drury in a statement.
