Montreal Impact goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau and defender Richie Laryea have been named to the Major League Soccer all-star roster, the league announced Wednesday. The selection comes on the heels of Canada's impressive run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the national team reached the round of 16 for the first time in history.
Crepeau and Laryea's World Cup Contributions
Crepeau, 32, started all four of Canada's World Cup matches, recording 15 saves and keeping one clean sheet in the group stage. His leadership and shot-stopping were pivotal in Canada's advancement. Laryea, 31, played every minute of the tournament, providing two assists and defensive stability from the right flank.
“It's an incredible honor to represent Montreal and Canada on this stage,” Crepeau said in a statement. “The World Cup was a dream, and now to be recognized by my peers in MLS means the world.”
MLS All-Star Game Details
The MLS all-star game will be played on August 19, 2026, at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, against a top international club side yet to be announced. The roster features 26 players selected by a combination of fan voting, coach selections, and league commissioner choices.
Crepeau and Laryea are among five Canadian players named to the squad, alongside Toronto FC's Jonathan Osorio, Vancouver Whitecaps' Lucas Cavallini, and CF Montréal's Alistair Johnston. This marks the highest representation of Canadian players in MLS all-star history.
