Two Arrested in Windsor Car Theft and Break-In

The Windsor Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a stolen vehicle that was reportedly used in a break and enter last month. The arrests were made on May 1, 2026, following an investigation by the auto theft unit.

Details of the Incident

On April 26, at approximately 5:45 a.m., two suspects allegedly stole a vehicle from a property in the 3200 block of Grand Marais Road East. The accused then drove the stolen vehicle to a business in the 2700 block of Meighen Road, where they broke into a locked trailer and stole several power tools, including a rotary saw, power drill, grinder, and reciprocating saw.

Recovery and Investigation

The stolen vehicle was recovered the following day in the 5500 block of Reginald Street. Inside the trunk, officers found several of the stolen items. Members of the Windsor police auto theft unit took over the investigation and identified two suspects. On May 1, both men were located and arrested in the same block of Reginald Street.

Charges

The accused, aged 48 and 53, are each charged with:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Break and enter a place other than a dwelling
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000
