North Vancouver police report that an officer was assaulted during a routine traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred near the intersection of Marine Drive and Capilano Road around 2:30 p.m.
Details of the Incident
According to authorities, the officer pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation when the driver became combative. The suspect allegedly struck the officer multiple times before being subdued with the help of bystanders. The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Suspect in Custody
The suspect, a 34-year-old man from North Vancouver, was arrested and is facing charges of assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. Police have not released his name pending charges.
