London Students Open Letters to Their Younger Selves After 8 Years
London Students Open Letters From 8 Years Ago

Grade 8 students at Stoney Creek Public School in London, Ontario, experienced a poignant trip down memory lane on June 15, 2026, as they opened letters they had written to themselves eight years earlier.

A Unique School Tradition

In 2018, when the students were in kindergarten, they penned letters to their future selves as part of a school project. The sealed envelopes were kept by the school for nearly a decade before being returned to the now-teenagers.

Lauren Stallone of CTV News London reported on the emotional event, capturing students as they read their childhood words and reflected on how much they had changed.

Reflections on Growth

Many students expressed surprise at their younger selves' handwriting, drawings, and aspirations. Some letters included predictions about their future hobbies, friends, and even careers, which they compared to their current lives.

One student remarked, "I forgot I even wrote this. It's funny to see what I thought was important back then." Another said, "Reading my old letter made me realize how much I've grown."

The exercise served as a powerful reminder of personal development and the passage of time, fostering gratitude and self-awareness among the students.
