Police in North Bay have expanded their investigation into a man charged with attempted child abduction, revealing that he had previously stalked two other young people as they walked to and from school. The new details emerged as authorities continue to probe the suspect's activities.
Investigation Uncovers Additional Victims
According to a statement from the North Bay Police Service, the man, whose identity has not been released, was initially charged after an alleged attempt to abduct a child. However, further investigation has uncovered evidence that he had stalked two other minors in the days leading up to the incident. The victims were all students who walked to and from school in the same neighborhood.
Police are urging any other potential victims or witnesses to come forward. “We believe there may be more children who had encounters with this individual,” said a police spokesperson. “We want to ensure the safety of all young people in our community.”
Community Response
The news has rattled parents and residents in North Bay, a city of about 50,000 in northeastern Ontario. Local schools have increased security measures, and parents are being advised to accompany their children to and from school. The police have also increased patrols in the area.
The suspect remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later this week. He faces charges of attempted abduction and criminal harassment. The investigation is ongoing.
