A 40-year-old man has been arrested on voyeurism charges after Saint John police issued warnings about a series of prowling incidents in the city. The arrest comes after an investigation into multiple reports of suspicious behavior, including individuals peering into windows and loitering near residences.
Police Investigation and Charges
The Saint John Police Force reported that the suspect was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday. He faces charges of voyeurism and trespassing at night. Authorities believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Community Alert
Earlier this week, police had warned residents about an increase in prowling incidents, particularly in the north end of the city. Officers advised homeowners to secure their properties, keep blinds closed, and report any suspicious activity immediately. The arrest has brought some relief to the community, but police continue to encourage vigilance.
“We understand these incidents have caused concern among residents,” said Constable Lisa Smith of the Saint John Police Force. “We are committed to ensuring public safety and will continue to investigate any further reports.”
Legal Proceedings
The accused is scheduled to appear in court later this month. He has been released on conditions, including a curfew and an order to stay away from the areas where the incidents occurred. The investigation remains ongoing.
