Impaired Driver Arrested After Fleeing Police on Highways 400 and 11
Ontario Provincial Police arrested an impaired driver on Saturday, May 16, 2026, after the motorist continued past a traffic stop on Highway 400 and 11. The incident occurred in Oro-Medonte Township, where officers deployed a tire deflation device to bring the vehicle to a halt.
According to OPP reports, the driver failed to stop when police attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle continued northbound on Highway 400 before turning onto Highway 11, where officers used a spike belt to deflate the tires and safely stop the car. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.
Police have not released the identity of the driver, but confirm that charges related to impaired driving are pending. The OPP remind the public that fleeing from police poses a significant risk to public safety and that impaired driving remains a leading cause of collisions and fatalities on Ontario roads.
