Will Ferrell's SNL Monologue Hijacked by Chad Smith

Will Ferrell's return to host "Saturday Night Live" took an unexpected turn when his celebrity doppelgänger, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, crashed the opening monologue. Smith, known for playing up their resemblance, emerged from backstage to applause, pretending to be the host.

The Confusion Begins

Smith started the monologue, saying, "Thank you, thank you, thank you very, very much. I'm thrilled to be back here hosting 'Saturday Night Live.'" The crowd cheered as he added, "It really feels like coming home." Moments later, Ferrell, wearing an identical shirt and blazer, rushed out and confronted Smith.

Ferrell's Reaction

"Hey, hey, hey, hey! Excuse me!" Ferrell exclaimed. When Smith claimed he was hosting, Ferrell retorted, "You're not the host, I am." Ferrell scolded the audience for cheering, revealing Smith had pushed him backstage. "Lorne had to give me mouth-to-mouth," Ferrell joked.

After Smith insisted he was the musical guest, Ferrell kicked him off stage, complaining, "Chad Smith, he took the wind out of my sails, this sucks."

Paul McCartney Joins the Fun

Ferrell then took questions from the audience, including one from the night's actual musical guest, Paul McCartney. McCartney jokingly confused Smith with Ferrell, saying, "Nice try, Chad. Get back behind the drums where you belong."

The bit delighted the audience and showcased the long-running gag between Ferrell and Smith. Watch more of Ferrell's monologue below.
