Calgary police have identified a 16-year-old girl as the victim of a deadly assault in the city's southwest. The stabbing occurred on Wednesday, and authorities are actively searching for the suspect, who remains at large.
Victim Identified
The victim has been named as 16-year-old Mia Chen, a local high school student. Police say they were called to the scene in the southwest community of Lakeview around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Upon arrival, officers found the teenager with life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to her wounds.
Investigation Underway
Homicide detectives are leading the investigation. Police have not released a detailed description of the suspect but are urging anyone with information to come forward. "We are following up on several leads and ask the public to remain vigilant," said Calgary Police Service spokesperson Sgt. John Smith. "We believe this was an isolated incident, but we are not ruling out any possibilities."
