Peel Regional Police are investigating a tow truck fire in Brampton as arson. The incident occurred late Tuesday night in the area of Queen Street East and Kennedy Road South.
Emergency crews responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. after reports of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, they found a tow truck fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle was extensively damaged.
Investigation Underway
Police say the fire is being treated as suspicious and has been deemed arson. The Arson Unit has taken over the investigation. No injuries were reported.
“We are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to come forward,” said Constable Sarah Patten of Peel Regional Police.
The motive behind the arson is not yet known, and no suspects have been identified. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses.
Community Concerns
Residents in the area expressed concern over the incident. “It’s unsettling to see something like this happen in our neighborhood,” said local resident Mark Thompson. “We hope the police catch whoever did this.”
This is not the first tow truck-related arson in the region. Similar incidents have occurred in recent months, prompting police to increase patrols and awareness.
