"The Daily Show" host Jordan Klepper engaged a Donald Trump supporter in a revealing conversation at an event celebrating America's 250th birthday in New Orleans. The exchange, broadcast on Thursday, initially featured the man expressing confidence that the country is heading "in a better direction" under Trump's leadership.
However, his certainty began to waver as Klepper pressed further. Klepper reminded the supporter of Trump's campaign pledge: "He ran on no new wars." The man agreed, stating, "Very true." Klepper then asked, "What do you think about all the new wars?" The supporter responded, "True. You got me there."
Klepper shifted the discussion to the Jeffrey Epstein files, a topic that has drawn criticism from some Trump supporters who accuse the administration of a lack of transparency regarding the convicted sex offender's case. "Release those Epstein files?" Klepper inquired. The man replied, "I agree there." He then suggested that ongoing military conflicts might be intentionally diverting public attention: "The wars are more so to cover that, to get people's attention away from that so nobody's focused."
Klepper asked the supporter if he would vote for Trump again. After a pause, the man admitted, "I don't know." Klepper observed, "Starting a war to distract from not releasing the Epstein files is definitely an almost deal breaker." The man agreed, saying, "Yes."
