Charlamagne tha God Blasts Trump Over 'Slush Fund' Deal with IRS
Charlamagne tha God Slams Trump's IRS Settlement Fund

Charlamagne tha God unleashed a fierce criticism of President Donald Trump after the president dropped his $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service in exchange for the creation of a nearly $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund.” Critics have labeled the fund a slush fund for Trump allies.

Charlamagne's Outrage

“When you see blatant corruption happening in this country at our expense, you’ve got to ring the alarm about it,” the “Breakfast Club” co-host said Tuesday during a segment where he named the president the “donkey of the day.”

On Monday, the Department of Justice announced the fund as part of a settlement to resolve Trump’s lawsuit over the leak of his tax returns. The fund is expected to provide payouts to Trump allies who claim unfair prosecution, including those involved in the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.

Charlamagne, born Lenard McKelvey, argued that American taxpayers now have to “sit back and watch Trump and his friends rob us of money that should be used for us.”

“America, I don’t care what your race is, I don’t care what your party is. There is no way on God’s green Earth that we can be OK with this,” he added.

A 'Political Reimbursement Program'

Charlamagne contended that Trump, “who doesn’t even pretend to care” about Americans’ economic struggles, is using billions in taxpayer money for a “political reimbursement program” instead of funding essential services at all government levels.

“Let’s be clear: President Trump is just paying his goons,” he said. “This is an incentive for his goons to do his bidding again if he needs them to.”

He emphasized that Americans should be outraged: “Our taxpayer dollars going to this weaponization fund to compensate his allies should piss you off. Not only is it corrupt; it is a blatant slap in the face to the economic hardships folks are facing.”

Charlamagne also noted the irony of the fund's creation amid inflation, which he said has surged under the Trump administration, and called for protests against the settlement.
