Windsor police and fire officials are investigating a fire that damaged playground equipment at Parent Park, located at the corner of Parent Avenue and Vimy Street, on July 3, 2026. The blaze was reported in the early morning hours and extinguished by firefighters.
Fire Details and Response
According to the Windsor Fire Department, crews responded to the park at approximately 3:30 a.m. and found the playground structure engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, but the playground sustained significant damage, rendering it unusable. No injuries were reported, and no nearby structures were affected.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire but have classified it as suspicious. The Windsor Police Service is appealing for witnesses or anyone with surveillance footage from the area to come forward.

Parent Park is a popular recreational spot in the city's central area, used by families and children. The playground's destruction has left many residents concerned. “It's devastating to see our local park damaged like this,” said a nearby resident who spoke on condition of anonymity. “Our kids loved playing there.”
