Toronto Pearson Annual Emergency Exercise on June 6

Toronto Pearson International Airport is set to conduct its annual full-scale emergency exercise on Saturday, June 6, 2026, to evaluate and improve emergency response capabilities across the airport community. This event is a key component of the airport's ongoing commitment to safety and preparedness.

Exercise Details and Participants

Mandated by Transport Canada, this full-scale exercise has been conducted annually since 1991. This year's exercise will involve nearly 300 participants and will simulate an investigation on board an aircraft. The scenario will require a coordinated response among airport staff, emergency services, first responders, and an airline partner. The exercise is scheduled to take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Importance of the Exercise

Khalil Lamrabet, Chief Operating Officer at Toronto Pearson, emphasized the significance of such drills. "Safety is built into every aspect of our operation at Toronto Pearson," he said. "Exercises like this allow us to challenge our plans, strengthen coordination with our partners, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. By training together in a realistic environment, we help ensure the airport community is ready to respond to any situation safely and effectively."
