A Guelph man has been charged following a break-in and assault that occurred earlier this week, according to the Guelph Police Service. The incident took place at a residential property in the city.
Details of the incident
Police responded to a call on Tuesday evening after reports of a forced entry at a home on the city's south end. Upon arrival, officers found a victim with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had fled the scene but was apprehended a short distance away.
The accused, a 34-year-old Guelph resident, faces charges of break and enter, assault causing bodily harm, and mischief. He was held for a bail hearing.
Police statement
“This was a disturbing incident that we are taking very seriously,” said Constable Mike Gatto of the Guelph Police Service. “We are thankful the victim’s injuries are not more severe.” The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
