In a significant move for his administration, Calgary Mayor Jeromy Farkas has announced a reshuffle of his senior office staff and unveiled a new roster for his Mayor's Advisory Council, which notably includes a former political opponent and a local sports icon.
New Leadership and Strategic Appointments
The changes, announced on Monday, January 12, 2026, see Zoe Addington stepping into the pivotal role of chief of staff for the mayor's office. She replaces John Larsen, who is transitioning to a new position.
Mayor Farkas praised Addington's extensive background in public policy and executive leadership. "Zoe brings extensive experience in public policy and executive leadership, and I'm grateful she has chosen to join Team Calgary," Farkas stated. "She is a steady, experienced leader who understands how to move complex priorities forward—while keeping Calgarians at the centre of the work."
Addington's resume includes serving as deputy chief of staff to the late Premier Jim Prentice, director of policy at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, and most recently, as an assistant deputy minister within the Alberta government.
Advisory Council Gains High-Profile Members
With Addington's arrival, outgoing chief of staff John Larsen will take on the role of chair for the Mayor's Advisory Council. This body is tasked with providing strategic insight and community perspectives to inform the mayor and city council's decisions.

- Brian Thiessen: A Calgary business leader, lawyer, and community builder who finished fifth in the city's October mayoral race.
- Jon Cornish: A finance professional, former Calgary Stampeders running back, and celebrated community leader.
- Heather Forsyth: A longtime civic leader and former public servant.
- Katie Smith-Parent: A recognized community advocate and social impact leader.
- Carol Ryder: A respected civic volunteer and community champion.
- Adam Legge: A prominent voice in economic development and business leadership.

Furthermore, Michael Solberg, the deputy chief of staff, will be concluding his work with the mayor's office. He is set to return to his position as a partner with his consulting firm.
