Halton Regional Police have linked a violent home invasion in Burlington to an attempted break-in in Oakville, stating that the same group of suspects is responsible for both incidents. The series of events began early Wednesday morning in southeast Oakville.
Attempted Break-In in Oakville
At approximately 3 a.m., a resident in southeast Oakville was awakened by loud banging at the front door. Police reported that suspects were seen kicking the door and using a hammer in an attempt to force entry. The resident immediately called 911, and the suspects fled before police arrived, failing to gain access to the home.
Violent Home Invasion in Burlington
Less than an hour later, around 3:45 a.m., five suspects smashed a glass panel to unlock the front door of a home in Burlington's Roseland neighbourhood, quickly gaining entry. Once inside, they confronted the residents and demanded valuables. A physical altercation ensued, during which a resident was struck in the head with an unknown object, requiring medical attention. The suspects fled without taking any items.
Police believe the same five suspects were involved in both incidents. They are described as males with slim builds, wearing dark clothing, hoods, and balaclavas. The suspects were seen traveling in a dark-colored sedan.

Authorities are urging anyone with video footage from the Royal Windsor-Ford Drs. area of Oakville between 2:45 a.m. and 3:10 a.m., or the New St.-Rossmore Blvd. area of Burlington between 3:30 a.m. and 4:10 a.m., to contact investigators.
