Toronto Police are investigating a violent stabbing that occurred early Friday morning, leaving one woman with life-threatening injuries. The incident has prompted a swift police response and an arrest in the east-end neighbourhood.
Early Morning Attack in East Toronto
Emergency crews were called to the Broadview and Danforth Avenues area around 6:50 a.m. on Friday morning following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The victim was transported to hospital via emergency run and remains in critical condition with what police describe as life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel are continuing to fight to save her life.
Suspect Apprehended Nearby
Toronto Police confirmed that a male suspect was arrested near the scene of the violent attack. The quick apprehension occurred shortly after officers responded to the emergency call.
Authorities have not released information regarding the ages of either the victim or the suspect, nor have they confirmed whether the two individuals had any previous relationship. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to piece together the circumstances leading to the violent encounter.

In a separate but similarly violent incident, Durham Regional Police are searching for a suspect involved in a stabbing that occurred in Oshawa on Monday afternoon.
Officers were called to Albert and Albany Streets around 3:20 p.m. regarding an armed person. At the scene, they located a female victim who had been stabbed.
The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Her age has not been released by authorities.
Investigators discovered that this incident was connected to two previous stabbings in Oshawa that left two victims with minor injuries. Police have since made one arrest in connection with these crimes.
Sharlie Bloxam, 30, of Oshawa, faces multiple charges including three counts of assault, assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for committing an offence, uttering threats, and possession of a prohibited weapon. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Police are actively searching for 31-year-old Jose Lopez of Oshawa, described as Hispanic with a medium build, short brown hair, and a goatee. Authorities warn the public not to approach Lopez and to immediately call 911 if spotted.
Lopez faces numerous charges including twelve counts of failing to comply with a probation order, six counts of disobeying a lawful court order, and three counts each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possessing a weapon for committing an offence.
