Windsor Police Issue Arrest Warrant in Counterfeit Money Case
Windsor police have launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of orchestrating a sophisticated counterfeit currency operation that targeted several major retailers across the city. An arrest warrant has been issued for Jad Karam, 47, who faces multiple charges in connection with the scams.
Details of the Counterfeit Cash Scheme
According to investigators, the suspect visited four different big-box retailers between November 4 and November 20, 2025. The scheme involved a calculated process where the individual would purchase several hundred dollars worth of merchandise using counterfeit bills.
Police report that the suspect would then return the items to the stores to receive legitimate cash as a refund. In an audacious move, he would subsequently re-purchase the same products again using more fake money, effectively laundering the counterfeit currency into real funds.
Suspect Description and Current Whereabouts
Jad Karam is described as a Middle Eastern man, approximately five feet five inches tall, with a slender build. He has distinctive long brown hair and brown facial hair.
Investigators have reason to believe Karam may have left the Windsor area and could currently be in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The Windsor Police Service financial crimes unit is leading the investigation and seeking public assistance in locating him.
