Windsor Police Seek Blue Hyundai in 2025 Homicide Investigation
Windsor Police Seek Blue Hyundai in Homicide Probe

Windsor police have launched a public appeal for video evidence as they investigate the city's fourth homicide of the year, a fatal stabbing that authorities describe as a case of intimate partner violence.

Details of the Homicide Investigation

Major crime unit investigators are specifically seeking surveillance footage of a blue 2010 two-door Hyundai recorded between 10 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, and 4 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. The vehicle was seen in the area of Langlois Avenue and the alley to the east, located between Erie Street East and Giles Boulevard.

Police have expressed particular interest in footage from properties facing the alley of Palermo Lane, which runs east of Langlois Avenue. This evidence could prove crucial in their investigation into the death of a 26-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a home in the 1100 block of Langlois Avenue.

According to police statements, the victim had been stabbed multiple times. The homicide represents Windsor's fourth such incident in 2025.

Suspect Arrest and Charges

Daniel Nathaniel Assing, 29, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case. His arrest occurred early Wednesday morning after police spotted him driving dangerously in downtown Windsor near police headquarters.

Officers noted that at the time of his arrest, the suspect had a large amount of dried blood on his face and body. Assing remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Broader Context of Intimate Partner Violence

This tragic incident occurs against the backdrop of Windsor's 2023 declaration that intimate partner violence constitutes a local epidemic, mirroring similar declarations across Ontario communities.

The region has witnessed several high-profile cases of domestic violence in recent months:

  • On October 8, 2025, a Windsor trial jury found Brian Marbury guilty of first-degree murder in the May 2023 killing of his estranged wife, Sahra Bulle, 36.
  • On September 18, 2025, a Windsor judge handed Ramada Nizigiyimana an automatic life sentence for the October 2021 stabbing death of his common-law spouse Xaviere Miyamitoro, 38.

Police are urging anyone in the area with relevant video footage, including doorbell cameras, dash-cams, or home security systems, to contact the Windsor Police Service Major Crime Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or through catchcrooks.com.
