Edmonton police have launched an urgent public appeal for witnesses following a devastating collision that left a wheelchair user fighting for his life in hospital.
The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of 137 Avenue and 124 Street in northwest Edmonton. According to investigators, a man using a wheelchair was crossing the road when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital by paramedics. Police confirmed he remains in critical condition.
"We need anyone who witnessed this collision or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward immediately," said EPS spokesperson in a statement. "Every piece of information could be crucial to our investigation."

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with several potential witnesses who were seen in the area at the time of the collision:
- A person riding a bicycle near the intersection
- Multiple pedestrians who may have witnessed the event

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
