Police Response and Investigation

According to a release from the Leeds County OPP detachment issued on Saturday, officers were called to a residence on November 25 after reports that a male suspect had refused to leave the property. Following their investigation, police determined that criminal charges were warranted.

The accused now faces a significant list of charges including:

  • Assault
  • Three counts of break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Mischief for allegedly destroying or damaging property
  • Criminal harassment
  • Additional related charges

Court Proceedings and Victim Protection

The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing held in Brockville court. In an effort to protect the identity of the victim involved in this sensitive case, police have chosen not to publicly name the suspect.

Provincial police took the opportunity to remind victims of intimate partner violence that local resources are available to provide support and assistance. Those seeking help can find more information online at 211ontario.ca.
