The incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Officers with the Calgary Police Service (CPS) conducted a stop on a vehicle near the busy intersection of 17 Avenue and Fifth Street S.W. What began as a standard traffic enforcement action quickly escalated.
