Toronto Police Probe Overnight Shooting Incident
Toronto Police are actively investigating a reported overnight shooting that occurred in the city. Officers responded to the scene at 2:07 p.m. in the Glen Cedar and Strathearn Roads area, where they confirmed evidence of gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with this incident.
Investigators have described the suspect vehicle as a light-coloured SUV. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the police at 416-808-1300.
Five Suspects Charged in Cambridge Robbery Case
In a separate incident, Waterloo Regional Police have charged five suspects following a robbery in Cambridge over the weekend. The incident was reported on Saturday around 7 p.m. in the Acorn Way and Bowie Drive area.
Police allege that a group of suspects assaulted the victim, sprayed them with bear spray, and stole personal belongings before fleeing. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack.
Officers responded promptly and arrested four of the suspects on Glamis Road near Macatee Place. A fifth suspect attempted to escape by jumping a nearby fence but was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
Charges and Details of the Cambridge Incident
The charged individuals include four Cambridge youths: two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old, and a 16-year-old. They face multiple charges, such as:
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Assault with a weapon
- Robbery
- Disguise with intent
- Possession of counterfeit money
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Administering a noxious thing with intent to aggrieve or annoy
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, their names cannot be disclosed. Additionally, an 18-year-old Brantford man was charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and disguise with intent.
Police have indicated that the individuals involved are known to each other, and the incident is believed to have been targeted. Both investigations highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address violent crimes in the region.
