Teen charged after dangerous driving crash in Windsor

Windsor police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old male with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle following a dramatic high-speed collision that left residents without power in the city's east end.

Late Night Collision Details

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on November 21, 2025, when officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Tecumseh Road East and Central Avenue. According to police investigation and dash-camera footage, a grey Mercedes was traveling eastbound on Tecumseh Rd. E. at extremely high speeds while weaving dangerously through traffic.

Chain Reaction Crash and Power Outage

Police reports indicate the Mercedes accelerated through an amber light at the Central Avenue intersection and collided with a sedan that was attempting to turn southbound. The impact caused the Mercedes to veer off the roadway and strike a utility pole, resulting in a transformer explosion that temporarily cut power to the surrounding area.

Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported from either driver or any pedestrians in the area. However, the downed utility pole and damaged transformer required immediate attention from ENWIN Utilities crews, who responded promptly to restore electrical service to affected residents.

Driver's Previous Record

The 18-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and now faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. This incident marks the second time the young driver has encountered serious driving charges, having previously been charged with stunt driving in May 2025, just six months prior to this latest incident.
