Police Intensify Search for Suspects in Scarborough Home Invasion and Hamilton Shooting
Law enforcement agencies across the Greater Toronto Area are actively investigating several serious criminal incidents, with Toronto Police seeking two suspects in a violent home invasion and Hamilton Police probing the city's first shooting of the new year.
Scarborough Home Invasion Turns Violent
Toronto Police have launched a manhunt for two unidentified young men following a brutal home invasion in Scarborough that left one victim stabbed. The incident occurred on January 22 at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the Kennedy-Ellesmere Roads area.
According to police reports, the suspects knocked on the door of a residence and forced their way inside when a victim answered. Once inside, the assailants began assaulting the victim while demanding cash, which was eventually taken during the confrontation.
The situation escalated when a second victim arrived at the scene. One of the suspects produced a knife and stabbed this individual in the stomach before both perpetrators fled the residence.
Suspect Descriptions Released
Toronto Police's hold-up squad has released descriptions of the two male suspects, who are both believed to be between 20 and 25 years old:
- Suspect One: Approximately 5-foot-5 with a slim build
- Suspect Two: Approximately 5-foot-7 with a medium build
"The suspects are considered armed and dangerous," police emphasized in a Wednesday release. "If located, do not approach and call 911 immediately."

Hamilton Police Investigate First Shooting of 2026
Meanwhile, Hamilton Police are appealing for public assistance in identifying a suspect and vehicle connected to what authorities describe as the city's first shooting incident of 2026.
The shooting occurred on Saturday at approximately 7:15 p.m. at a business in the East 28th Street and Fennell Avenue East area on Hamilton's East Mountain. Police discovered an injured adult male at the scene who was transported to hospital in serious condition.
The suspected shooter fled the area in a waiting vehicle, described as a grey or silver four-door 2020 Honda Civic. The vehicle was last seen fleeing northbound on Upper Sherman Avenue from Brucedale Avenue East.
Hamilton Shooting Suspect Description
Hamilton Police have released the following description of the shooting suspect:
- Male, between 6-foot and 6-foot-3 in height
- Wearing a dark green puffy winter jacket
- Black hoodie with a large white Adidas logo on the front
- Black pants and black shoes

Additional Criminal Incidents Across the Region
In separate developments, Durham Regional Police have charged a 34-year-old Oshawa man after he was accused of threatening co-workers at a waste-management facility. Damien Johnston faces a charge of uttering threats after police were contacted Monday about threatening comments allegedly made to employees at the 1640 Ritson Road North site.
Police reported that the suspect was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident. His legally owned firearms were voluntarily surrendered during the arrest.
In Toronto, a 53-year-old man faces charges after allegedly assaulting a parking enforcement officer and threatening their life over the weekend in East York. Junior Frederick Peltier was arrested and charged with uttering death threats and assaulting a peace officer following an incident in the Pape and Westwood Avenues area.
According to Toronto Police, the officer was issuing a ticket to a vehicle parked on the roadway when the suspect allegedly uttered death threats and assaulted them. The officer attempted to get away but was followed by the suspect. No physical injuries were reported in this incident.
